Born in Kano on October 13, 1968. (Dr) Usman Yahaya Kansila is an established industrialist, construction magnate and a humble philanthropist. After learning the Qur’an as is the practice in every Muslim home, he proceeded to obtain his first school leaving certificate, after which he attended Kano State Polytechnic where He bagged a National Diploma and a Higher National Diploma in Accountancy.
After a career stint in the Kano State civil service, precisely, in the Ministry of Commerce & Industry (Dr) Usman ventured into private business. He established the UYK Nigeria Limited in 1996 as an engineering & trading Company. Since then, the Company has grown from strength to strength and has succeeded in establishing its name in the realms of engineering and construction business in Nigeria and beyond the borders. With additional speciality in procurement of fire-fighting and equipment and other digital laboratory facilities, the UYK, true to the mission of its founder, strives to provide exceptional and unparalleled service to its clients across Nigeria.
As an indigenous company, UYK provides competitive but equal employment opportunities for Nigerians. It also sponsored internationally certified professional training programmes for its staff and professional partners. The company employed over 500 Professionals from diverse academic backgrounds, like Engineering, Quantity Survey, Architecture, Accounting and Human Resources, majority of whom are products of Nigerian higher Institutions of learning.
Through sheer determination, leadership acumen and sincerity of purpose, UYK Nigeria Limited was transformed to a Multi billion-naira conglomerate within two decades of the start of its operations, executing iconic projects across Nigerian Tertiary Institutions. Prominent among such projects are: The Senate Building of Bayero University, Kano, the Senate Building of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Faculty of Arts/Humanities and Faculty of Social Science, River State University, Faculty of Physical Science and Faculty of Engineering, Akwa Ibom State University, College of Medical Science, Federal University of Health Science, Otrukpo, Treasury Office of the office of the Accountant General, Abuja and Federal Inland Revenue mega office in Port Harcourt, just to mention but a few.
